Starting from 1 January 2024, Hungary will be extending toll roads by more than 200 km, including the busy M0 motorway around Budapest. Additionally, a new one-day motorway vignette will be introduced next year.
New Toll Roads
Under the new legislation, the following roads will become toll roads from 1 January 2024:
- The entire M0 motorway (ringroad around Budapest)
- The M44 highway
- The M30 bypass at Miskolc
Vignette Requirements
For these newly tolled roads, it will be necessary to have the appropriate vignettes:
- On the M0 motorway, a Pest county vignette will be sufficient on the sections concerned
- On the M4 motorway, in addition to the Pest County vignette, the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County vignette will also be required
- On the M44 motorway, the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok and Békés County vignettes will be introduced, while the Bács-Kiskun County vignette will be valid for a short stretch up to Tiszakürt
- On the M30 motorway, after the toll-free section between Miskolc South and Miskolc North, a Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County vignette will be required to use the entire length of the motorway
- The M31 motorway will also become tolled, with a Pest County vignette being sufficient
- The M76 motorway from Balatonszentgyörgy to Keszthely-Fenékpuszta will require both the Somogy and Zala County vignettes
Vignette Prices
Starting from 1 January 2024, the prices for e-vignettes will be subject to an increase of 16.4% linked to consumer prices in August of the previous year. The new prices for e-vignettes will be as follows:
- 10-day: HUF 900 (EUR 2.29)
- Monthly: HUF 1460 (EUR 3.71)
- Annual: More than HUF 8000 (more than EUR 20)
- Annual county: HUF 940 (EUR 2.39)
One-Day Vignette
In addition to the existing options, starting from 1 March, a one-day sticker will also be introduced, costing HUF 5150.
