Hungary's crime prevention success
Hungary's National Crime Prevention Council played a key role in improving the country's safety rating, according to an interior ministry official. The fall of recorded crimes by a third in the past decade can be attributed to the council's work in strengthening the legal system, police force, and securing the country's national borders. Maintaining high employment rates also helped to reduce crime.
Other EU countries compared with Hungary
With only four percent of people in Hungary feeling unsafe, the country stands out among others in Europe. In comparison, 15 percent of Germany's population doesn't feel safe, 20 percent of Belgium, 24 percent of France, and 58 percent of Sweden's population don't feel safe.
Importance of crime prevention
Hungary's success in reducing crime highlights the importance of effective crime prevention techniques. By creating strong legal and police frameworks, promoting employment, and securing national borders, Hungary has become a safer place for its citizens.
