Hungary has been declared free from bird flu by the food safety authority Nébih. After imposing restrictions earlier this year to prevent the spread of bird flu in the country, the authority has now lifted all of them.
Lifting of Restrictions
The last two counties under restrictions, Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád, in Southern Hungary, have not reported new cases since April. As a result, the transportation of poultry from Hungary to domestic and EU destinations can now continue uninterrupted. However, some third country restrictions will have to be lifted by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) before this can happen.
Adherence to Regulations
Nébih warned farmers to continue to adhere to regulations to prevent the reintroduction of the virus.
