The Verzió Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is returning to Budapest for its 20th edition. The festival explores human rights and social issues through a diverse program of over 80 films from more than 40 countries.
A Fresh Visual Identity
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Verzió has undergone a visual identity makeover. The festival's new visual identity aligns with this year's theme, "Where are We Headed?" It prompts viewers to reflect on the future, the preservation of human values, and the need for change.
A Wide Range of Films
The festival will showcase films that tackle pressing international and domestic human rights issues. The Hungarian competition program will feature seven fresh works, including "Fairy Garden," which follows the lives of two individuals living in a forest near Budapest, and "We Will Not Fade Away," which tells the story of young protagonists dreaming of conquering the world in the Donetsk Basin.
International Competition and Anthropocene Section
The festival's International Competition will feature films like "Motherland," which explores the violent abuse and killings in the Belarusian military, and "Hollywoodgate," which follows the Taliban in Afghanistan as they seize American weapons. The Anthropocene Section will showcase films that address the state of our planet, including "The Song of Earth," set in the Norwegian highlands.
