Exciting details have been revealed about the new CSOK Plusz and Falusi CSOK support in Budapest. The CSOK Plusz is a new housing support program that will replace the current urban CSOK. The detailed draft legislation for CSOK Plusz 2024 has been released, providing important information about the new family support program. Additionally, the draft also includes changes to the Falusi CSOK program, offering increased funding for interested individuals.
Changes to Falusi CSOK
The Falusi CSOK program, which is a special and increased version of the existing family home creation benefit, will continue to be available in 2024. The program will be extended to include new purposes for application and the funding amount will be raised. This means that individuals living in preferred small settlements can receive additional financial support for renovating or expanding their existing properties.
Support for Renovation and Expansion
Falusi CSOK can be used for renovating or expanding existing properties. The funding amount depends on the number of children in the family. Currently, the funding amounts for renovation and expansion are:
- 1 child: 300,000 HUF
- 2 children: 1.3 million HUF
- 3 or more children: 5 million HUF
According to the recently announced regulations, these funding amounts will be increased to:
- 1 child: 500,000/600,000 HUF\*
- 2 children: 2 million HUF
- 3 or more children: 7.5 million HUF
\*500,000 HUF for renovation, 600,000 HUF for expansion.
Purchase of Used Property with Concurrent Renovation and Expansion
The combined purpose of purchasing a used property and renovating or expanding it is currently eligible for non-refundable support through Falusi CSOK. This will continue to be available in 2024 as well. The current funding amounts for this purpose are:
- 1 child: 600,000 HUF
- 2 children: 2.6 million HUF
- 3 or more children: 10 million HUF
According to the new regulations, these funding amounts will be changed to:
- 1 child: 1 million HUF
- 2 children: 4 million HUF
- 3 or more children: 15 million HUF
The principle remains the same, where the funding amount for renovation and expansion is half of the total support received. Additionally, at least half of the funding received for the combined purpose should be allocated towards renovation and expansion.
Purchase or Construction of a New Residence
Currently, it is not possible to apply for Falusi CSOK for the purpose of purchasing or constructing a new residence. However, the July regulations have opened up this possibility. The funding amounts for these purposes would have remained the same as the existing CSOK support: 600,000 HUF for 1 child, 2.6 million HUF for 2 children, and 10 million HUF for 3 or more children on preferred small settlements.
As part of the CSOK Plusz draft, the funding amounts for new residences will be adjusted to match the levels of support available for the concurrent renovation and expansion of used properties. This means that the funding amount for the purchase or construction of a new residence will increase by:
- 400,000 HUF for 1 child
- 1.4 million HUF for 2 children
- 5 million HUF for 3 or more children
It is important to note that the Falusi CSOK for new residences will only be available for the construction or purchase of single-family homes in preferred small settlements.
Use of CSOK for Used Property Purchase without Additional Purpose
Currently, Falusi CSOK cannot be applied solely for the purchase of a used property. This will not change in the coming year. However, the CSOK Plusz can be used for this purpose. It should also be noted that starting from 2024, CSOK Plusz will be available for the purchase, construction, concurrent expansion, and independent expansion of properties in small settlements. This is great news for those planning to buy, build, or expand homes in small settlements.
