Budapest and the Lake Balaton region in Hungary have seen a boost in tourism, thanks to an increase in foreign visitors, particularly from German-speaking countries and the Visegrad Group. This has resulted in a significant contribution to tourism accommodation revenues, with Lake Balaton receiving close to one-third of the total revenue.
Rise in Chinese Tourists
Out of all the foreign tourists, Chinese visitors have shown the largest increase in numbers. Compared to the previous year, the number of guest nights spent in the region by Chinese tourists has nearly quadrupled. In the middle of the season, approximately 180,000 Chinese tourists spent close to 650,000 guest nights in the Lake Balaton area.

By mid-July, the total number of guest nights registered at Lake Balaton during the summer season reached 2.4 million. Additionally, there are an additional 1.1 million guest nights already booked for the remainder of the summer. Of these bookings, 31% are from foreign guests.
