Empty Words and Concepts – Seven Journeys in the Forest of the History of Political Ideas
This course includes 7 seminars that explore the evolution of modern political ideas, ideologies and concepts, from ancient times to modernity. The seminars will discuss themes such as the modern understanding of democracy, the necessity of separating branches of power, and the difference between liberals and conservatives.
The course will be moderated by historian Rudolf Paksa, and two to three experts will facilitate discussions with the audience. The course will begin on 20 April, and it will be held in room 104 of the Budapest building of CEU, with online participation available. Handicapped People in Our Society: Systemic Disadvantages and Supporting Factors
This course will address social and historical aspects of living with a disability. Experts, researchers, and handicapped participants will introduce main concepts and facilitate discussions with the audience.
The course is open to anyone interested in the topics, and reading materials are provided to students. The first seminar will take place on 27 April at the Budapest building of CEU, in room 105, with the option for online participation. Interested individuals can register on the course website.
