Getting a taxi at Budapest Airport
When you arrive, you'll need to make your way to the taxi booth located outside the arrivals terminal. Here, you'll need to provide your destination, and the booth attendant will give you a printout that you will then give to the licensed cab driver.
It's important to note that there can be some variation in the cost of a taxi ride from the airport to the city centre.
Depending on your destination, the ride could cost you approximately €30 to €40. The cost will be displayed on the meter and you can't be charged extra for any reason.
Although taxis must accept card, it's always good to have some local currency on hand in case the driver tries to pretend their machine is broken.
Taking the bus from the airport instead
While taking a taxi to the city centre is convenient, it's not the only transportation option available. The other common way to make the 23km journey is by bus. The price of a single bus ticket is only €4 (1,500 HUF), making it a much cheaper option than a taxi. However, the journey will take longer, approximately 50 minutes, and there is less flexibility with your travel time since the buses follow a set schedule.
